Nina G. – StoryTime Amongst Generations

Essential Question:

How can the experiences of members of the older generations who are connected to the LREI community help younger generations, as we navigate such trying times full of teen angst and growing up in the world?  What can we learn from people, specifically older generations, by listening to their stories?

Purpose:

I wanted to interview grandparents because I am interested in the “hidden” stories I might find if I tried to dig a little deeper into the lives of older generations, particularly my own grandparents. This project was not only meaningful to me, the listener, but to the storytellers as well. At least I hope. Everything I listened to, read, wrote, and conducted turned out to also highlight the importance of storytelling, whether it be you who’s sharing or you who’s listening, both ends are new beginnings to something else. Neither parts are simple, though it may seem to be as such. Whether a story blossoms into something more is up to the receiver. What I mean by this is that if someone acts based upon a story they’ve heard, then this storytelling has turned into something more. It has blossomed and become consciously meaningful.
