  • 7am – Depart for Rockland, ME from School
  • 4:30-5:30 Board lobster boat to Hurricane Island
  • 5:30-6 Quick tour of facilities and Unpack
  • 6:30-7:30 Dinner and cleanup
  • 7:30-8:00 Check in
  • 8:00-9:00 wash up
  • 9:00 – lights out

Tuesday, April 26th

  • 7:00- Wake up
  • 8-9am Breakfast and Cleanup
  • 9-9:30 Morning meeting, chores, and data collection.
  • 9:30-10:15 Hike and explore the island
  • 10:15-12 Introduction to island sustainable systems
  • 12-1pm Lunch and cleanup
  • 1-4pm Management of fisheries Workshop.
  • 4-4:30 Snack
  • 4:30-5:30 Lobster boat
  • 5:30-6:30 Lobster dissection
  • 6:30-7:30pm Dinner and cleanup
  • 7:30-8:30 Campfire Smores, reflections on the day, plan for tomorrow
  • 8:30-9:30pm Wash up
  • 9:30pm – Lights out

Wednesday, April 27th

  • 7:00- Wake up
  • 8-9am Breakfast and Cleanup
  • 9-9:30 Morning meeting, chores, and data collection.
  • 9:30-10:15 Methods in fisheries science data collection
  • 10:15-12 Analyzing fisheries data with focus on scallops and how to use data to influence fisheries
  • 12-1pm Lunch and cleanup
  • 1-3pm Intro to debate format and strategies.
  • 3-3:30 Snack
  • 3:30-4:30pm Revel of groups; work to research material and final prep for debate.
  • 4:30-6:30pm Debate
  • 6:30-7:30pm Dinner and cleanup
  • 7:30-8:30 Night Hike
  • 8:30-9:30pm Wash up
  • 9:30pm – Lights out

Thursday, April 28th

  • 5:30-6:30pm Final reflections
